Ly Syin Lobster is an experienced writer. Ms. Lobster became interested in journalism and the media at an early age. Her grandfather would read the newspaper to her on Sunday afternoon. She begin writing for Central Baptist Church newsletter “The Leadership” while she was in high school. Ms. Lobster was inspired to major in Mass Communications after reading an article in the St. Louis Post–Dispatch about Christopher Harris. The article contained information about Harris’s uncle which took the focus on the story away from the fact an innocent boy was killed.

During college, she specialized in electronic media and print journalism. She wrote for the Southwestern College student newspaper, “The Collegian”. Ms. Lobster was awarded a scholarship for her commitment to journalism. After a public speaking engagement on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, her sophomore year she was offered an internship at the Winfield Daily Courier. Ms. Lobster was an on air personality for 2 years at Southwestern College’s radio station KSWC. She was videographer for Southwestern College’s television station SCTV. Ms. Lobster graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield Kansas with a bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications.

After graduation, Ms. Lobster went to work at KPOC television station in Ponca City, Oklahoma. While at KPOC, she filled many roles, news anchor, videographer, video editor and producer. In 1998, Ms. Lobster then became more involved with technology. She began working in the audio visual field realized technology was changing rapidly. Through work experience, she gained internet and computer software skills including desktop publishing.

Ms. Lobster is a graduate of Stepping up to Leadership, a Community Action Leadership Development Institute. She has been a member of Connections to Success Professional Women’s Group since 2005. Ms. Lobster was awarded the distinction of a Leading Lady from Connections to Success in 2006.

Ms. Lobster has assisted Abbigail’s House, Inc with developing a press kit, newsletter, and other public relations materials. She is also involved in public relations ministry for Straight Gate Ministries. Because of Ms. Lobster public relations experience, her passion for journalism remerged. As an intern for the St. Louis American, she has written several articles. Her work has also been featured in the St. Louis Argus.
